Introducing Angie - Owner & Director of TLC Pet Boarding
As a little girl, Angie could be found coaxing feral kittens out of trees, rescuing reptiles from under porches, and nursing baby birds back to health. At the time, all her parents’ warnings regarding safety concerns fell on deaf ears.
No matter how aggressive the cat, skittish the dog, or messy the raccoon, yep, raccoon, each critter found a special place in Angie's heart. Now, after having raised two animal-loving kids of her own, the family menagerie has been home to the following inhabitants: dozens of dogs and cats, various post-window birds, a Canadian goose, quite a few snakes, and two teenage ravens.
Angie has always loved animals, but she didn't decide to work with them full-time until exploring a few other routes. She started out studying early childhood development, but before completing that course of study, she returned to her first field of interest—veterinary science.
She decided to pursue becoming a veterinary technician because it was important for her to keep working with animals. She truly enjoyed a hands-on interaction with animals. During her time as an active vet tech she worked in multiple clinics in pre- and post-surgical care. For Angie, it was very rewarding to be working with animals so continuously. She worked as a veterinary technician until she was 8-months pregnant with her first child and loved every moment of the experience.
Angie took time off to raise her two sons. But as soon as both boys were in full-day school, she returned to working with animals. She managed a local kennel for some years before deciding to start her own. With her own kennel, Angie felt she could create the exact environment she envisioned and lavish affection on the dogs in her care.
Starting her own pet hotel was the perfect fit! She had always wanted to return to a vet clinic after raising her kids. However, she found that having her own family business allowed her to also be a great mom and to involve her sons in her work. Her decision to open up the TLC Pet Boarding Kennels turned out to offer the best of both worlds!
